Last week Security Now released the 520th episode. A huge milestone, 10 years of recording, releasing an episode every week.
Here is the description from the TWiT website:
Steve Gibson, the man who coined the term spyware and created the first anti-spyware program, creator of Spinrite and ShieldsUP, discusses the hot topics in security today with Leo Laporte.
Computer security is becoming an increasingly important part of our world. The more we continue to rely on the computers in everything from our cars to our homes, an awareness of what is possible, and what is not possible is very necessary. There is a great deal of important information, as well as plenty of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) that is cast by large companies, politicians, and government agencies. Sifting through all this information and misinformation is hugely important. Security Now presents the most relevant and timely news with a healthy dose of reality, helping you truly understand what you should do to keep yourself safe and secure.
I’m not a ‘back catalog completionist’ of podcasts I don’t pick up within a few weeks of their start, so my history with Security Now is not the full 10 years. I believe I started listening when I picked up listing to podcasts in general, so it was most likely around January of 2008.
I’ve really enjoyed the 7+ years of listening, and have really gotten a lot out of it. Steve’s discussions on technology and security are approachable, and clearly well thought out.
I really recommend Security Now. The episodes are long, which combined with the topic, can sometimes be intimidating, but you get a great mix of news, in-depth and clear topic discussion, and answers to listener questions. If you are at all interested in understanding the implications of technology security on the world you live in (and you should be), you should really check out this wonderful show.
Congratulations to Steve and Leo (and the entire TWiT team) on this milestone. Thank you for providing such a great resource and I look forward to everything you continue to share with us.
